If you produce software of any complexity you
will be aware of the need to provide your users with well written, professionally
presented help and reference materials. I have over 10 years experience
in producing MS Windows
.CHM and
.HLP help files, and
WebHelp and
JavaHelp for browser based applications. The help can be fully integrated into
software applications, right down to field level 'F1' key 'context sensitive' help.
The level (and cost) of integration is up to you.
The source material can be re-purposed existing paper documentation, suitably
adapted for online presentation, or all new material written from new in collaboration
with appropriate members of you staff.
Delivery formats can be any combination of:
- Web deliverables: JavaHelp, XML, HTML and DHTML
- MS Windows .CHM or .HLP help
- Adobe Acrobat PDF and eBooks
Note that it is also possible to deliver the same source documents in
any or all of the above formats via 'single sourcing' at little extra
cost, e.g. a printed manual that can also be installed as JavaHelp.
